Description

Food is a fantastic vehicle to provide an exciting learning adventure that will captivate students. Students discover the exciting and incredible world of cooking through the passions of a real Chef as they see how to apply Science. Focus will be matter for this workshop. Students will learn about different tools of temperature measurement, states of matter and how changes in matter are common in cooking. Classroom programs are classroom versions of our assembly programs under the same name allowing more topic detail, student focus and classroom activities. Age appropriate exercises and cooking demonstrations using scientific concepts will help students discover and make sense of their world. Lively cooking and engaging activities, informative lessons, games, and relays allow students to develop life-skills to make healthier choices for their success.

Students Will

  • Examine states of matter in cooking while learning cooking techniques.
  • Identify science in everyday cooking while developing a cooking vocabulary.
  • Work with cooking equipment and following instructions
  • Literacy Connection: The Science Chef, D'Amico and Drummond, ISBN 0-471-11779-X
