The Writer's Garret
BookMarks! Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride by Pam Munoz Ryan
During School Day, After School, Weekend
On Campus Program
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, Community/Fam.
When flying was still quite new, women didn’t fly and few women even drove cars – but the two daring women we’ll read about did both! What would it have been like to be there in the White House at that dinner, or even to have flown or driven around Washington, DC in the dark? All will have the opportunity to work together to write a script and put on a short skit as if we were all there on the night Amelia flew and Eleanor drove! Younger participants will have fun with pretend play and props!
▪Connect with one another by exploring, in reading and writing, cultural lessons in relation to women's history
▪Strengthen community bonds by sharing their writing in performance
▪Engage with the community in the activities of reading and writing to summarize and perform
