Creative SolutionsCreative Solutions, winner of the 2004 President's Committee on Arts and the Humanities Coming Up Taller Award, is Big Thought's nationally recognized program for at-risk teens. The program has served more than 20,000 children aged 13 and 17 with hands-on visual and performing arts workshops. Creative Solutions provides youth with a safe, supervised environment where they can freely and creatively express their opinions and emotions.

Creative Solutions strives to:

  • Provide a safe, supervised alternative to the streets, where participants can freely express their opinions and emotions;
  • Give participants a chance to make a positive, successful contribution to their community through a public performance and/or art exhibition;
  • Educate the community about the talent and potential the participants possess;
  • Encourage teens to consider the arts as a career path and/or a constructive recreational outlet

To be eligible for enrollment in our free Creative Solutions art classes, students must be between the ages of 13-17 and be on probation with the Dallas County Juvenile Department. To inquire about summer or after-school classes contact Lisa Schmidt.
