Young Audiences of North Texas

Young Audiences of North Texas was established in 1987 as the 32nd chapter of the national Young Audiences network. Since its founding, Young Audiences of North Texas has served more than three million North Texas children. Young Audiences of North Texas’ current roster includes more than 150 artists representing more than a dozen disciplines.  Young Audiences of North Texas programs takes place throughout the school year, serving public and private elementary schools in 30 North Texas school districts.

Young Audiences of North Texas (YA) is designed to:

  • Make the arts a vital part of every child’s educational experience;
  • Provide children with authentic arts experiences, presented by professional artist-educators;
  • Impart essential learning skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, and imagination; and
  • Instill an appreciation for the arts, and a tolerance and appreciation for cultural and ethnic diversity and their role in building strong communities.

Young Audiences of North Texas programs range from the classic western disciplines – including opera, classical music, and theater – to culturally specific programming that reflects and educates the diverse community Big Thought serves.

  • Performance Plus: participatory auditorium performances followed by classroom workshops
  • Solo & Duo Performances: intimate performances designed for large classrooms or libraries.
  • Residencies: sequential classroom visits by an individual artist, culminating in a group project
