Neighborhood Leadership Teams
At Thriving Minds we believe that as a community we’re stronger working together than alone. By building a citywide system of organizations sharing resources and information, we are better able to give children and families meaningful creative experiences where they can most readily be accessed—right in the neighborhoods where they live.
Leading this effort are Neighborhood Leadership Teams (NLTs) made up
of school principals, community liaisons, recreation center staff, library branch managers, pastors and a host of other involved citizens. These teams of individuals meet regularly to develop neighborhood plans that address community concerns such as juvenile crime, poverty and teen pregnancy. Using creative arts as the catalyst, each neighborhood then develops Thriving Minds programs that support shared community values such as youth workforce development and family engagement.
Thriving Minds Community Site Managers, operating after-school programs on twenty Dallas ISD campuses, also play an integral part in connecting community resources to schools to ensure that our community programs align with Dallas ISD curriculum and support the learning outcomes for students in our local schools.
NLTs have been established in six Dallas communities, including Far East Dallas, West Dallas, Oak Cliff, South Dallas, Pleasant Grove and Northwest Dallas.
