DALLAS – JUNE 24, 2022 – This Saturday, families can attend the Dallas Public Library Turn Up event for a day of fun, creative learning activities. Hosted by the Dallas City of Learning, an initiative in Big Thought’s Learning Systems department, the Library Turn Up event is open to the public and will be held at the J Erik Jonsson Central Library on Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Turn Up events are about imagining how learning can happen in any space and Creating Creators through inspiration,” said Sergio Antonio Garcia, director of Learning Systems at Big Thought. “We are excited to be back in person and bring new learning experiences through our partnerships with other local organizations. Learning is a part of creativity and creativity is part of learning. What are the skills that you are building when playing with clay or making slime? Our Turn Up events aim to inspire that creative learning and lead you down a new path of learning.”

The Library Turn Up engages youth and their families with fun, educational activities like arts and crafts, dance, STEM, music and more. Completely free for all who attend, the Turn Up events hosted by the Dallas City of Learning aim to make learning more fun and help youth explore their creativity.

Activities at the Dallas Public Library Turn Up include:

  • Storytelling with Ofelia
  • Slime with Seeds 2 STEM
  • Live animals with Texas Native Cats
  • Community Mural
  • And so much more!

Additionally, through a Big Thought partnership with Avondale Dealership, Hispanic Star and Dallas Cowboy Defensive End Demarcus Lawrence, we’ll be supplying families with $500,000 worth of personal care items courtesy of Procter & Gamble.
