I READ to LEAD: Dear Black Boy by Martellus Bennett

October 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join Project: Still I Rise, the African American Museum of Dallas, and Big Thought as our literary series for young men continues with “Dear Black Boy,” Saturday, October 19 at Big Thought Headquarters.

Dear Black Boy, by Martellus Bennett, is a letter to encourage black boys to go beyond who they are perceived to be, more than sports, more than a number on a jersey.

Bennett says, “Dear Black Boy is a reminder that they are more than athletes, more than a great crossover or a forty-yard dash, that the biggest game that they’ll ever play is the game of life, and there are people rooting for them off of the courts and fields, not as athletes, but as future leaders of the world.”
