The shift from summer to the new school year is almost here. To get prepared, check out these resources before heading back to the classroom:

School Supplies

Thanks to resources across the city, there are numerous opportunities to gather the right supplies.

New this year: Dallas ISD has announced that clear or mesh backpacks will be required for all secondary students. Read more here.

Easing Back-to-School Anxiety

The back-to-school season can cause nervousness or worry for some children. Keshunia Johnson from Dallas ISD’s Counseling Services spoke with Good Day about how parents can help children navigate their anxieties, encouraging parents to keep an open line of communication with children and remain empathetic. While nervousness about a return to school is normal, if a child seems to be experiencing excessive anxiety, parents can ask to speak with the school counselor regarding their concerns.

After School Arrangements

Thriving Minds After School is Big Thought’s after school program for elementary and middle school aged learners that focuses on nourishment and play, academic foundations, creative exploration, and social and emotional learning. The program begins immediately after school dismissal, and pick-up time is 6:00 p.m.
