Edith O’Donnell

Edith O’Donnell has played a pivotal role in advancing the arts and education in Dallas in in other parts of Texas. In 1987, along with Mitch Jericho, Edith began the North Texas chapter of Young Audiences, now known as Big Thought. Edith and her husband Peter head the O’Donnell Foundation, an educational foundation that promotes strong math, science and arts education in Texas. In 1994 she founded an Advanced Placement studio art, art history and music theory incentive program currently for Texas. Edith has been honored with the James K Wilson Award, the Linz Award, the University of Texas Distinguished Alumni Award, and an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from SMU. In 2009 she received the Texas Cultural Trust Medal of Arts Award for an Individual Arts Patron.
