Whether you can give a few hours, a few weeks or a few months, volunteering with Big Thought is flexible and fun.

DaVerse Lounge (Friday, April 26th, 6:00-10:00PM)
Held 6 times per year at Life in Deep Ellum, DaVerse Lounge is a community-wide event that celebrates individuality and youth voice through spoken-word performances and other hands-on learning activities. Volunteers are needed to greet guests, assist with wayfinding and activities, sign students up to perform, manage the information table, and more. Sign up for this opportunity!

 

Discover Summer Fair (Saturday, April 27th, 9:00AM-1:00PM)
Held in partnership with Dallas ISD, the Discover Summer Fair, hosted at Dade Middle School, allows students and families to explore the hundreds of learning opportunities that will be held this summer as well as the many resources made available to them. There will be free vision screenings, blood pressure and glucose screenings, immunizations for children ages 2 to 18 years of age, free food and beverage, and more. Volunteers are needed to help support the activities Big Thought offers at the event, including our Mobile Tech XPerience (RV outfitted to offer coding, robotics, etc.), in addition to wayfinding, assembling and distributing materials, and setup/breakdown. Turn Up at Love Field (Saturday, June 22nd, 10:00AM-2:00PM)
Held at the Frontiers of Flight Museum, students and families gain admission to the museum where they’ll have the opportunity to explore activities and resources offered by Dallas City of Learning partners. Attendees will also receive a behind-the-scenes tour accompanied by a “Taste of Love Field.” Volunteers are needed to help with setup/teardown, greet guests, assist with wayfinding, support activities as needed, and more. Turn Up Discovery Faire at J. Erik Jonsson Library (Saturday, July 13th, 11:00AM-3:00PM)
The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library turns into a makerspace, with each floor of the 7-story building having a different theme (everything from ecology to engineering to Latin dance). Students and families are exposed to high-quality cultural and STEAM experiences that ignite the imagination. Similar to the first Turn Up, volunteers are needed to help with set-up/tear-down, greet guests, assist with wayfinding, support activities as needed, and more. Sign up for this opportunity!
