About the Role

The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting the organization’s expanding Budgeting, Accounts Receivable, Cash Reporting, Analysis and Accounting functions. We’re seeking an individual who is organized, detail oriented, flexible and a good communicator.

A seasoned and enthusiastic individual who can impress us with hands-on budget and accounting experience, superior organizational abilities, Excel prowess and the ability to think beyond task orientation. Naturally our ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy in work product, and has exceptional customer service skills.

What the Role Entails

As an integral part of our collaborative team, the Accounting Associate’s responsibilities include departmental and project budget support, general ledger reporting/analysis, cash reporting and day-to-day accounting and period-end close needs.

  • Support the CFO as the budget liaison to each department;
  • Coordinate the building of budgets to support project budgets for grant applications and fee opportunities;
  • Coordinate the Accounts Receivable and cash receipts/reporting functions;
  • Provide analysis of general ledger transactions based on a variety of expense, income and timing queries;
  • Support the department with assigned month-end close responsibilities;
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports;
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in related field;
  • Three years front-line Accounting and Budgeting experience in an entrepreneurial organization with 40+ employees;
  • Strong and significant Accounts Receivable and Cash Reporting experience;
  • Knowledge of and experience working within a dual-entry, automated accounting system;
  • Experience building, maintaining, updating and communicating organizational and departmental budgets;
  • Experience with month-end and period-end accounting closes
  • Proficient with MS Office, Oracle NetSuite, Financial Edge (Blackbaud), bill (AP system), and Salesforce a plus;
  • Non-profit experience a plus

To perform the duties of these roles successfully, you may regularly be required to: sit, stand, or stare at computer screen for long periods of time; participate in external activities; use various office equipment, some manual; work in environment with loud sounds, multiple distractions, and interruptions; be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures on occasion; maintain emotional control during stressful situations.
