Light on Afterschool Quality Programs Enrich Children

The Washington, DC-based Afterschool Alliance applauds the quality after-school programs that enrich the lives of children across the country.

So they organized a day to celebrate: Today, Oct. 22, 2015, is Lights On Afterschool, an event that advocates and sends three cheers to all the great supporters and organizers of engaging after-school programming.

Here are the local Lights On Afterschool festivities. Most are today, but a couple will take place Oct. 30:

• Oct. 22: Carver Elementary Fall Festival, 5-7 pm, George Washington Carver Learning Center, 3719 Greenleaf St., Dallas.
• Oct. 22: Anson Jones Culminating Event, 4:30-5:30 pm, Anson Jones Elementary School, 3901 Meredith Ave., Dallas.
• Oct. 22: Casa View Elementary Creating Learning Spaces, 6-7:30 pm, Casa View Elementary School, 2100 Farola Dr., Dallas.
• Oct. 22: Heart of Oak Cliff, Village Oaks Apartments, 3550 E. Overton Rd., Dallas.
• Oct. 30: Thriving Minds Open House, 4:30-6 pm, Jerry R. Junkins Elementary, 2808 Running Duke Dr., Carrollton.
• Oct. 30: De Zavala Fall Festival, 5:30-6:30 pm, Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School, 3214 N. Winnetka Ave., Dallas.
